What's gluten-free at Yum! Curries
Indian cooking is naturally gluten-free in most of its core formats — rice, pulses, tandoor meats, dairy, vegetables. The places gluten sneaks in are bread (naan, roti), pastry (samosa), and a UK takeaway shortcut some kitchens use: wheat-flour roux to thicken gravy. Yum! does not use wheat-flour thickening. Our gravies are reduced and thickened with onion, tomato, cream, and slow-cooked spice technique — the way the cuisine is supposed to be.
Naturally gluten-free dishes on our menu:
- Yum Makhani — boneless butter chicken in tomato makhani gravy. No wheat.
- Chicken Nihari — slow-cooked nihari, deep glossy gravy. No wheat.
- Chicken Curry (homestyle) — onion-tomato gravy, garam masala. No wheat.
- Shahi Paneer — paneer in cream-and-saffron tomato gravy. No cashew, no wheat.
- Amritsari Chole — Punjabi chickpea curry. Vegan, gluten-free.
- Dal Makhani — black urad dal, slow-simmered overnight. Gluten-free.
- Royal Chicken Biryani — Sella 1121 basmati, boneless tandoor chicken, saffron, fried onion, herbs.
- Jeera basmati rice — basmati, cumin, ghee.
- Chicken Tikka, Chicken Seekh Kebab — yogurt-and-spice marinade. No soy sauce, no wheat-derived seasoning.
Wheat-containing items — name them on the order
The following Yum! Curries items contain wheat and are not gluten-free:
- Garlic naan, plain naan, Peshwari naan — all made with wheat flour.
- Aloo Samosa, Chicken Samosa — pastry shell is made with wheat flour.
If you order a Family Feast Box and want gluten-free only, request "swap naan for extra rice, no samosa" in the order notes — the kitchen will accommodate.
Coeliac & severe gluten intolerance — read this carefully
Our recipes are designed without gluten in the gluten-free dishes themselves. The kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free environment — naan dough is made daily, and the tandoor handles both naan and tandoor chicken. If you have coeliac disease or a severe non-coeliac gluten sensitivity, the cross-contact reality matters:
- Email allergens@yumcurries.com ahead of order to confirm the latest cross-contact protocol for the dishes you want.
- Use the order notes box on every order to flag your requirement ("Coeliac — strict gluten-free; please prep in a clean section").
- Skip the naan and samosa entirely.
- See the full allergen sheet under each dish on Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
Honest framing: we are a busy kitchen that produces wheat-containing items in the same space. Our gluten-free dishes are designed without gluten ingredients. We will not claim "100% coeliac safe across the kitchen" because that is not what we operate — it would be the wrong word, and the wrong word is dangerous in allergen contexts.

Severe gluten intolerance? Talk to us first.
Email allergens@yumcurries.com and we'll confirm the spec of any individual dish, our latest cross-contact protocol, and the safest way to order. We'd rather have a slow conversation up front than a fast claim that's the wrong word.
