Why Kemptown
Kemptown — or "Kemp Town" if you're sticking with the strict version — is the strip east of the Old Steine, anchored by St James's Street and Marine Parade. It's independent, food-loyal, gay-friendly, students-mixed-with-families, with seafront on one side and the Hanover slope on the other. It punches above its weight on independent restaurants.
We chose 1 Paston Place because it sits inside that culture rather than outside it. The kitchen is a working production line for our central recipes — every curry made fresh, packed in compostable kraft, sealed with the gold-on-green Yum! mark, walked or driven to your address. Most Kemptown deliveries land in 15–25 minutes; the closest ones can be quicker.
If you live in Kemptown and you've quietly stopped enjoying the standard UK Indian takeaway — the bones, the cashew gravy you can't ask about, the foil tray with an oil pool, the salad bag you'll never eat — Yum! is the format we built precisely for your evening.

The honest take on Kemptown's Indian scene
Brighton Curry on St George's Road is our direct neighbour. The Reddit consensus is fair — "branding is awful but the flavour is delicious". They've earned their following. If you're a Brighton Curry regular and the food is part of your week, that's a good ritual.
Yum! is a different proposition rather than a replacement. The five things we stack together that no one in Kemptown does:
- Halal-certified end-to-end (not "halal options")
- Boneless every chicken dish — hand-trimmed tender cubes, every time
- Nut-free across every cooked dish — with an honest, named carve-out for off-site desserts
- Low-oil restaurant-rich finish — flavour from spice, not pools of fat
- Brand-new compostable packaging built for the delivery journey, not a foil-tray hangover
If those five matter to you on a particular night, we're built for that night. If not, your local is great.
Allergens & dietary at a glance
- Halal certified — every meat dish, every kitchen surface. Certifier [CERTIFIER BODY — to confirm].
- No beef. No pork. Anywhere on the menu. Ever.
- Boneless chicken only — every chicken dish, every time.
- Nut-free across every dish we cook. Exception: off-site desserts (Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun) are made by a separate supplier and contain nuts (pistachios). Flag any nut allergy at order time and skip the desserts.
- Vegan & vegetarian — Amritsari Chole, Dal Makhani, Shahi Paneer.
- Low-oil cooking — flavour from spice and reduction, not pools of butter.
